SEEKING JUSTICE FOR JOHNNY CUNNINGHAM KILLED 4/7/2021 3000 BLOCK OF OLD BATTLEBORO RD ROCKY MOUNT,NC

In the early morning hours of Thursday April 8th 2021 Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office received a call to check the welfare of a person laying in a driveway on the 3000 block of Old Battleboro Rd in Rocky Mount near Cool Springs Rd ( Highway 97 ) in Edgecombe county.

When law enforcement arrived they found Johnny Cunningham laying on the ground beside his truck. They found he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

The investigation leads law enforcement to believe the incident occurred between 930pm and 10pm the night before.

Edgecombe county sheriffs Office is asking ANYONE who may have seen something, have camera footage on any road leading to or from the 3000 block of Old Battleboro Rd or a car camera that may have passed a car in the area around 9-10pm Wednesday April 7th to contact them.

Johnny Cunningham was a community advocate . He was the founder of Regroup1 which helps find convicted felons find jobs. He always believed that those who had a past could turn their lives around the way he did.

Cunningham had spoken at just about every city council meeting sometimes criticizing them and sometimes thanking them.

He was truly a community leader that will be missed by many.
